How do YOU spell Smoky? Did you know there’s not an “e” in Smoky? I have written “Smokey” for, like, ever. Apparently it depends on who you’re talking to (it pains me to end a sentence with a preposition, but I’m applying literary license).
When park rangers encourage us to listen to Smokey the Bear and help prevent forest fires - there’s the “e.” When the same rangers invite all to visit the Great Smoky Mountains, it’s gone again. I’m having trouble letting go of the “e.” I’ve been talking about it since I arrived.
I’m letting it go long enough to write this newsletter. We’ve decided to go heavy on the photos because that’s what y’all seem to like. I don’t blame you. There’s a reason they say a picture’s worth a thousand words. We have a lot to “say,” so let’s get started.
